THE AERONAUTICAL PARK OF CATALONIA AT SABADELL

The part of the FPAC collections that can be seen at Sabadell's PAC show is focused on the following historical, technological, social and in the future, recreational purposes:

  • -  The technological evolution of aviation.

  • -  The evolution of general aviation, aerial work, and public air

    services.

  • -  The development of other forms of powered flight.

  • -  The beginning and evolution of the Sabadell Airport.

  • -  The training of pilots, cabin crew, aeronautical managers, and aeronautical engineers.

  • Currently the PAC of the Sabadell collection is distributed over three hangars, and the static aircraft paddock located in front of the aeroclub terrace.

[HM] HANGAR MUSEUM. Built by the FPAC and open to the public since September 8th 2019, the Hangar Museum has an inner area of 3,500 m2 (30m x 45m x 7.5m free space ). It contains part of the collection of aircraft in flight, static aircraft with flight potential and aircraft that, due to the type of structure or covering of the fuselage or the wings, cannot be exhibited in the open air.

It is located on the ground plot ceded by AENA to the City Council and further ceded to the FPAC. This is the PAC's leading site, located on the west side of the airport terminal and tower. It has access for visitors through the airport internal perimeter road, parking for vehicles, and access for aircraft - upon request to TWR - from taxiway N1.

A 2.000m2 aeronautical grass apron located between the HM and N1 has been developed for visitor's light aircraft.

[HG] HANGAR GARAGE. Built by the FPAC in 2001, on a land plot rented by AENA until 2031, the Hangar Garage has a 460m2 inner free area. The collection's on-flight remaining aircraft and other operational aircraft that are in the course of significant revisions, are parked there. It is located between Barcelona-Sabadell Aeroclub's hangars 6 and 7 and has direct access to the R2 apron.

[HT] HANGAR WORKSHOP-SCHOOL. Built by the FPAC in 1999 on a land plot rented by AENA until 2029, the Hangar Workshop- School has a 497m2 inner free area. The FPAC administrative and technical offices, as well as its aircraft maintenance and restoration workshop, are located there.

During the first decade of this century, and with the support of the Employment Service of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Vapor Llonch Institute of Sabadell, the FPAC developed aeronautical occupational training courses. Currently, the FPAC offers internships in Aircraft Maintenance, Aeronautical Management, Aeronautical Engineering, and Administrative Management.

The HT is located in front of R1 apron, between the Aeroclub's hangar-workshop and the helicopter maintenance hangars of the Eliance company.

VISITS TO SABADELL'S PAC-MUSEUM

On the third Sunday of each month, except in January, July and August, the FPAC organizes a free access open doors exhibition, the PAC·OBERT, at R1 airport's apron, from 10 am to 1:30 pm.

It consists of Static and In-Flight exhibition of the collection aircraft and a free visit to the Workshop-School Hangar.

On other dates and upon request it is possible to book a guided tour to the Hangar Museum, eventually extended to the Hangar Garage, subject to volunteers' availability. Please address your request by email to [ PACVISITA@GMAIL.COM

COMPLETION OF THE AERONAUTICAL PARK OF CATALUNYA

After the opening of the Hangar Museum and as more funding and sponsorship become available, the access, the required infrastructure, and the constructions planned in the project of Sabadell's PAC will be completed, as follows:

  • -  [HA] A classic "omega" hangar with a semicircular arch roof that was located at Girona-Costa Brava airport and donated by Josep M. Armengol, Partner of the Foundation. Currently its parts are preserved in warehouse D of PAC. Once funding is granted it will be re-built, infrastructure provided, and open to visitors. It will be dedicated to engines and aircraft undergoing restoration or pending. A children's pedal aircraft circuit will also be paved in front of this hangar.

  • -  [HR] A new-built classic "omega" hangar with a semicircular arch roof will be located at the PAC enclosure's future main access. It will be dedicated to the history of aviation in Sabadell and that of the Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell. Decorated with aeronautical memorabilia of the documentary and minor collections, it will be the reception and meeting place open to visitors, friends, and partners of the FPAC and the Aeroclub.

  • -  [PC] A Pavilion dedicated to the documentary collection. It will be equipped with lavatories for the PAC visitors.

  • -  [EC] Aeronautical paddock for the static exhibition of aircraft.

  • -  [TS] A 115m2 terrace located next to HG's TWR and dedicated to aeronautical photographers, spotters, accredited as PAC partners. It will be built on top of the [MS] set of four maritime containers where components and spare parts of the operational fleet are stored.

  • -  [TD] A 290 m2 terrace located on the eastern boundary of the enclosure, on which the C47 (DC3) will be cantilevered and open to visitors when the restoration project is completed. It will be built on the [MD] set of maritime shipping containers in which aircraft engines and parts, pending of restoration are currently preserved.

  • -  [EP] The Sabadell PAC project will be completed with the construction of the main access and entrance to the enclosure through the northern part of the airport (Zone 0)
